Weight Loss Injections in Las Vegas: A Plain Guide to What We Prescribe
Weight loss injections — specifically GLP-1 and GIP-based medications — have genuinely changed what's possible for patients who'd been fighting their weight for years. If you're in Las Vegas and trying to figure out which one is right for you, here's what you actually need to know.
At Medi-Slim Weight Loss & Spa, we dispense compounded Semaglutide and compounded Tirzepatide, both administered weekly.
For some context: MediSlim has practiced weight-loss medicine in Las Vegas for over 22 years. The injections are recent; the clinic isn't.
How Weight Loss Injections Work
Both medications mimic gut hormones your body already makes. Those hormones do three useful things:
- Keep you full longer after meals
- Quiet the constant background hunger signal
- Steady your blood sugar, which cuts cravings
Tirzepatide hits two of those hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). Semaglutide hits one (GLP-1). Tirzepatide tends to produce slightly more weight loss in head-to-head studies.
Semaglutide vs. Tirzepatide
Short version:
- Compounded semaglutide — generic equivalent to Ozempic and Wegovy. Clinical trials showed about 12–15% of body weight over a year.
- Compounded tirzepatide — generic equivalent to Mounjaro and Zepbound. Trials showed about 15–20% of body weight.
Either is a real tool. The right one for you depends on your starting point, your goals, how your body tolerates the medication, and your budget. We figure that out at the consultation — we don't default-prescribe one over the other.
A Note on Compounded vs. Brand-Name
We dispense compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide — not the brand-name Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, or Zepbound pens. Compounded medications are prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy using the same active ingredient. The molecule is identical; the preparation and supply chain are different.
We're upfront about this so nobody is surprised. If you'd specifically prefer a brand-name product, we'll tell you where to look.
How Treatment Works at MediSlim

- Medical assessment. Labs if needed so we can prescribe safely.
- Plan. We pick the right medication and set a starting dose.
- Weekly injection. You do it at home, or come in and have us handle it.

Nutrition and lifestyle guidance is handled in-house by our team.
Who Weight Loss Injections Are For
Generally a fit for adults who:
- Have a BMI of 30 or higher, or
- Have a BMI of 27 or higher with a weight-related condition like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol
We rule it out if you have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer, a history of pancreatitis, multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2, severe gastrointestinal issues, or are pregnant or nursing.
What to Expect in the First Few Months
Most patients notice appetite changes within the first couple of weeks. The scale usually starts moving by week 4–6. Most patients see steadier weight loss as their dose is titrated up over the first several months — though the exact pace varies patient to patient.
Common side effects are mild and usually temporary — nausea, mild stomach upset, reduced appetite. We manage this by starting low, going slow, and being reachable when something comes up.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do weight loss injections hurt?
Most patients are surprised at how easy the injection is — short, thin needle, subcutaneous. We teach you how, or you can come in and have us do it.
Are these injections the same as Ozempic or Mounjaro?
Same active ingredients. Ozempic and Wegovy are brand-name semaglutide; Mounjaro and Zepbound are brand-name tirzepatide. We dispense compounded versions prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy.
How much weight can I expect to lose?
Clinical trials showed about 12–15% on semaglutide and 15–20% on tirzepatide over a year. Your numbers depend on your starting point, dose, and consistency.
Does MediSlim work with insurance?
No. We're cash-pay. Transparent pricing discussed at your consultation.
How often do I come in?
Weekly injections can happen at home. Follow-ups are more frequent early on (during dose titration) and less often once you're stable.
Can I get treatment if I live in Henderson or Summerlin?
Yes — we see patients from across the valley.
